72nd Punjab Games 2019

Pakistan has been facing decline in sports since last 15-20 years and this has been reflected in dismal performance in international games and number of medals won by Pakistan players in various international tournaments. Government of the Punjab, is now making an effort to identify and develop talent in different sports, to hold different events and to impart training and coaching to the players in different sports. In this regard Government of the Punjab in collaboration of Sports Board Punjab  under the vision of Chief Minister, Usman Buzdar is all set to organize the much delayed Punjab Games into the 72nd edition this year. After such a long gap of eight (8) years which is certainly a revolutionary measure for the bright sports future of the province. As many as 3000 athletes in both male and female categories are to participate in these games which are being held after a lapse of almost a decade, are now scheduled for the first week of April this year from 3rd to 6th at the different venues in Lahore. All nine (9) divisions of the Punjab have been sent the invitation to prepare their players for the upcoming games and the training camp and trials to select the teams of different divisions had already been started.  DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar advised all the divisional Sports Officers to select all teams for Punjab Games after transparent trials process at nine divisional headquarters. 

Opening Ceremony

72nd edition of Punjab Games will explode into action with the grand opening ceremony on April 3, 2019. The participating squads from all nine divisions will reach Lahore on April 2 for full dress rehearsal of mega sports event.

Sports Disciplines:

The athletes would compete in 30 different disciplines including 21 for men, 7 for women and 2 for special children. 

Schedule:

The events of 30 sports will be held in the first week of April from 3rd to 6th at the following venues in Lahore.
