Right to Information

Access to information is a fundamental right that strengthens transparency, accountability and public participation.

ℹ️

What is RTI?

Under Article 19-A of the Constitution, the Right to Information (RTI) is a fundamental right of every citizen of Pakistan. Citizens have the right to access information relating to matters of public importance, subject to reasonable restrictions imposed by law.

A citizen may also have access to information held by a private body that is substantially financed by the government. RTI is based on the principle that citizens, as taxpayers, are entitled to access public information. It promotes transparency, accountability, the elimination of corruption and improved public service delivery.
