The celebrations of Ashra Shan-e-Rehmatulil Alameen (PBUH) have started with a calligraphy exhibition at Alhamra Arts Council under the auspices of Lahore Arts Council (LAC) and with the collaboration of Youth Affairs and Sports Department Punjab here on Monday.

Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab on Information Omar Sarfraz Cheema inaugurated the calligraphy exhibition. On the occasion, Executive Director Al Hamra M Rafiullah along with Press Secretary to CM M Iqbal Chaudhry also presented a souvenir to Adviser to CM on Information Omar Sarfraz Cheema.

As many as 150 artworks of 180 artists from all over the country were presented in the presence of a large number of art lovers. Zulfiqar Ali, Mian M Akhtar, Jamshed Qaiser, Asghar Ali, Khadim Hussain, Zulqarnain, M Asif, M Waqas and Shaukat Ali got prominent positions in the calligraphy competition. The prominent position holders of the calligraphy competition were also given cash prizes of Rs 20,000 each.

Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Taimoor Masood in a statement on Monday said that as many as 180 artists from across Pakistan exhibited their artworks in calligraphy exhibition. “The purpose of organizing these events is to make the young generation of the country aware of the Prophet's life and teachings,” he added.

Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Taimoor Masood said that the young generation can become a good Muslim and a successful person by following the teachings of Holy Prophet (PBUH). “Youth Affairs and Sports Department Punjab is conducting qir’at, naat competitions and other programmes to celebrate the Ashra Shan-e-Rehmatulil Alameen in a befitting manner,” he elaborated.

Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Taimoor Masood further said that the artists have expressed their love and respect for the Holy Prophet (PBUH) in a nice way through their artwork. “All the art lovers present in Alhamra Arts Council appreciated the excellent and creative work of artists”.

The top Qawwal of the country Nadeem Jamil also presented a Qawwali on this occasion. The next ceremony of Ashra Shan-e-Rehmatulil Alameen (PBUH) will be held in Govt College University (GCU) Lahore on Tuesday.
