Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi has presided over an important meeting of the Sports Board Punjab Advisory Board, with university and college students included in the advisory board for the first time.
The students from COMSATS, Beaconhouse, LUMS, Punjab University, the University of Lahore and Gulab Devi educational institutions participated in the meeting. Director of Sports Punjab University Dr Shabbir Sarwar and other members of the Advisory Board also attended the meeting.
The meeting took important decisions regarding engaging young people in positive and constructive activities and preparations for the CM Punjab Youth Games.
Speaking at the meeting, Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi said effective measures are being taken to involve young people in positive and constructive activities. “The CM Punjab Youth Games aimed to promote youth development and encourage young people to participate in sports”.
Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi welcomed the inclusion of students in the Advisory Board, saying the new ideas presented by young people represented a positive development. Board members also put forward valuable suggestions on further measures that Youth Affairs and Sports Department could take for the development and welfare of young people.
Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi said traditional sports, including dangal and kabaddi, were being promoted in Punjab. “Further steps would also be taken to promote traditional sports such as gulli-danda, malakhra and pitthu gol garam”.
