Secretary Sports Punjab Fazal-ur-Rehman has presided over an important meeting on the issuance of CM Punjab Athlete Card at the Punjab Stadium on Wednesday.
Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi, Additional Secretary Sports Shabbir Hussain Cheema, Director Admin Abid Shaukat, Director Youth Affairs M Fahad, Bank of Punjab Head of Marketing Asad Zia, Head of Digital Cards M Adnan and other senior officials also attended the important meeting.
The officials of the Bank of Punjab briefed the meeting regarding various aspects of the CM Punjab Athlete Card and its digital payment mechanism.
Addressing the meeting, Secretary Sports Punjab Fazal-ur-Rehman said the CM Punjab Athlete Card would be issued soon. “Now the payments from the Punjab Sports Endowment Fund would now be disbursed to athletes through these cards”.
Secretary Sports Punjab Fazal-ur-Rehman informed that more than 300 athletes are being issued the cards initially. “Punjab Sports Department is setting a target of providing CM Punjab Athlete Cards to 1,000 players”.
Secretary Sports Punjab Fazal-ur-Rehman further said that under the programme, the athletes would receive monthly financial assistance of Rs 100,000 in the Platinum category, Rs 75,000 in the Gold category while Rs 50,000 in the Silver category through the CM Punjab Athlete Card. “The design of CM Punjab Athlete Card has been finalized”.
Secretary Sports Punjab Fazal-ur-Rehman said the CM Punjab Athlete Cards are being issued to the top-performing athletes in different sports including kabbadi, tennis and hockey. “The objective of Punjab government is to promote sports and support the development and welfare of athletes”.
