Secretary Sports Punjab Fazal-ur-Rehman has presided over an important meeting regarding the promotion and development of sports activities across all divisions of the province. The meeting held at the Punjab Stadium on Tuesday, reviewed sports affairs in Multan Division, along with the astro-turf facilities at hockey grounds in Rawalpindi Division.
Additional Secretary Sports Shabbir Hussain Cheema, Director Admin Abid Shaukat, Director Youth Affairs M Fahad and PMU officers attended the meeting in person while all Divisional Sports Officers of the province participated in the meeting through video link.
Addressing the meeting, Secretary Sports Punjab Fazal-ur-Rehman directed the officers concerned to improve the astro-turf at Waqar-un-Nisa College hockey ground and upgrade the condition of the Multan Wrestling Arena. “Multan Division had excellent sports complexes and grounds and the relevant officers should ensure their effective marketing to attract greater public and private-sector engagement”.
Secretary Sports Punjab Fazal-ur-Rehman directed the officers to establish outstanding sports branding arenas in all divisions of the province. He also directed that divisional, district and tehsil sports committees be made fully functional.
Secretary Sports Punjab Fazal-ur-Rehman stressed the need to involve the private sector in the beautification of sports complexes and the organisation of major sporting events. He directed officers to work diligently for the promotion and development of sports across the province.
Secretary Sports Punjab Fazal-ur-Rehman issued instructions to install CCTV cameras at sports complexes to strengthen security and monitoring arrangements. “Wrestling events will also be organised at the Youth Wrestling Arena in Multan in October along with Bahawalpur”.
