Secretary Sports Punjab Fazal-ur-Rehman said that Pakistan is a huge blessing for the inhabitants of this region and we must put up maximum efforts to strengthen our beloved motherland; he said this while addressing the colourful Independence Day ceremony at the National Hockey Stadium on Friday.
Secretary Sports Punjab Fazal-ur-Rehman was the chief guest on this occasion. He along with Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi, Director Admin Abid Shaukat, Additional Secretary Sports Shabbir Hussain Cheema, Deputy Director Zahoor Ahmed and officers and staff of Sports Board Punjab, also hoisted national flag and cut a cake to mark Pakistan’s Independence Day.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary Sports Punjab Fazal-ur-Rehman said that freedom is a great blessing and its protection is the collective responsibility of every citizen. “It is right time for all of us to renew our commitment to perform our respective duties honestly for the bright future of our beloved country. Besides this, our youth need to play a vigorous role in national development”.
He said that Pakistan has given us an identity among the world community. “Now it’s our turn to respond through some useful and purposeful efforts and perform our obligation with full honesty and it’s the best way to serve our beloved country”.
Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi on this occasion said that sports played an important role in promoting discipline, unity and patriotism among young people. “Sports Board Punjab is providing ample opportunities to youth to participate in positive and healthy activities”.
The participants expressed their love for the country and renewed their commitment to national unity and solidarity by enthusiastically raising slogans of ‘Pakistan Zindabad’. Special prayers were also offered for the development and progress of Pakistan. A one-minute silence was also observed to pay tribute to the martyrs who rendered supreme sacrifices for the creation of Pakistan.
