Punjab Youth Affairs and Sports Department, on the directions of Punjab Minister for Sports Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar, has completed all the arrangements for the Chief Minister Punjab National Marathon and Cycling Race 2026, the biggest marathon and cycling race in the country's history.
Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi, in a statement on Saturday said that more than 11,000 male and female athletes and citizens will participate in the CM Punjab National Marathon and Cycling Race. “Provincial Sports Minister Punjab Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar and other provincial ministers will be the guests of honour on this occasion”.
Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi said that the 21-km Marathon, Cycling Race, Women's 5-km Marathon and Cycling Race, 2-km Family Fun Race and 1-km Wheelchair Race will start at 6.00am from Liberty Chowk. “Vice-Chairman Sports Board Punjab Malik Suleman, Secretary Sports Punjab Muhammad Ali and other top officials will be present on this occasion”.
Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi said that Sports Department Punjab has assigned the duties of hundreds of employees for organizing the mega event in a befitting manner. “In this regard, Sports Department Punjab also conducted an orientation session for the training of all relevant officials”.
Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi informed that senior athletics coach Salman Iqbal Butt, Punjab Olympic Association CEO Idris Haider Khawaja and sports officers trained the all relevant officials. “We are quite upbeat that several talented athletes will emerge from this grand sports event”.
Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi said Chief Minister Punjab National Marathon and Cycling Race is important for the development of sports. “All necessary arrangements including medical treatment, security staff, provision of water and other key arrangements have been made for the athletes”.
