Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Muhammad Ali has chaired an important meeting at the Punjab Stadium on Wednesday to review performance of all divisions of the province.
Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi also participated in the meeting. Additional Secretary Sports Shabbir Hussain Cheema, Director Youth Affairs M Fahad, Divisional Sports Officer Lahore Division Tariq Khanzada, Deputy Director Zahoor Ahmed and Project Director PMU attended the meeting in person while all Divisional Sports Officers of Punjab participated in the meeting through video link.
As per performance, Faisalabad Division secured first position with 69 points, Multan is on the second position with 65 points, Lahore clinched third spot with 62 points followed by Rawalpindi with 62 points, Gujranwala (58 points), Sargodha (43), Bahawalpur (37) while DG Khan and Sahiwal finished 8th and 9th respectively.
Addressing the meeting, Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Muhammad Ali said that the performance of all divisions regarding their sports activities and achievements will be reviewed every month. “All the sports officers of the province will be judged through their performance”. Secretary Sports Punjab also issued show-cause notice to officers of Dera Ghazi Khan and Sahiwal divisions for their poor performance.
Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi gave a detailed briefing regarding the preparations of Sports Board Punjab’s upcoming General Body Meeting. He said that several important decisions including the establishment of Sports Medical Center will be taken in the upcoming board meeting.
Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi said that all necessary measures are being taken for the promotion of traditional and regional games across the Punjab province. “Grade Two cricket trials are being organised in all divisions of the Punjab province”.
