Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi presided over an important meeting regarding the Annual Sports Calendar at the National Hockey Stadium on Thursday.
Director Admin Abid Shaukat, Director Sports Chand Parveen, Director Youth Affairs M Fahad and Deputy Director Zahoor Ahmed attended the meeting in person while all Divisional and District Sports Officers of the province participated in the meeting through video link.
Addressing the meeting, Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi informed that the sports calendar competitions are starting this month. “The competitions of one game will be held in each tehsil and district every month. The kabaddi event will be held in April, athletics in May, table tennis in June, badminton in July, hockey in August while football competitions will be organised in September”.
Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi further said that every e-library of Punjab will arrange programs every month regarding youth affairs. “All sports officers should fully implement the sports program in their respective areas”.
Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi has directed the officers to generate maximum funds and organize top level sports events under public-private partnership formula. He also issued instructions to form cricket teams at divisional level on merit.
Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi said that Sports Board Punjab will utilize all available resources for organizing sports competitions in all parts of the province. “In the past, we organized Mir Chaker Rind Games, Kohsar Sports Festival and Pothohar Games in different parts of the province”.
Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi further said that surprise visits will be made in all divisions of Punjab to check the sports activities and condition of sports infrastructure. “All sports officers should ensure the grounds are fully functional, clean and well managed. No illegal activities will be allowed in the sports complex and grounds across the province”.
Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi has directed the officers to show hundred percent performance for the development of sports in their respective regions. “The officers who will not work have no place in the Sports Department,” he warned.
