More than 500 boys, girls, men, women and children participated in the CM Punjab Energy Saving Cycling Ride 2026 on Sunday night.
Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar was the chief guest on this occasion. He along with Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Muhammad Ali, SBP Vice Chairman Suleman Malik, Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi, Sports Coordinator Malik Anoosh Khokhar and Director Sports Rana Nadeem Anjum also participated in the CM Punjab Energy Saving Cycling Ride.
The CM Punjab Energy Saving Cycling Ride started from Kalma Chowk CBD and concluded at the same point after covering 10-km distance.
Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar, Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Muhammad Ali, Vice Chairman Suleman Malik, Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi were awarded special souvenirs after the completion of cycling ride.
Talking to media on this occasion, Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar said that cycling is a very healthy activity and it can play an important role in saving energy as well as the environment. "Attracting the young generation towards sports and positive activities is the top priority of the government".
Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar further said that Chief Minister of Punjab has declared this year as the year of youth. "After Eid, the largest Punjab Marathon will be organized and besides this, the biggest sports event of the province - Punjab Games will also be organized in a befitting manner".
Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar said that holding of a beautiful family cycling ride in Ramazan ul Mubarak is a very healthy activity. "Such activities are very important for the promotion of sports among youth and a healthy society."
The Provincial Sports Minister also paid tribute to the organizers for organizing CM Punjab Energy Saving Cycling Ride in a successful manner.
He said that cycling will be added to our next biggest sports event - Khelta Punjab Game. "We are also planning to organize a mega cycling race in other major cities of the province. The top performing cyclists will also be enrolled in Punjab Sports Endowment Fund".
Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar said that as the year 2026 has been declared the 'Year of Youth' and in this regard Punjab Sports Department will organize a mega sports event every month".
Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Muhammad Ali on this occasion said that Punjab Sports Department is going to organize several top sports events after Ramazan ul Mubarak. He congratulated the organizers for holding such an impressive cycling ride in a successful manner.
Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi, in his address said that the cycling ride is just the beginning. "Punjab Sports Department will organize several top sports events this year to engage our youth in healthy sports activities in accordance with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister."
He said that the Youth Affairs Wing of Punjab Sports Department will also organize various events this year for the welfare of talented youth.
