In a significant development, Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar has announced to organize historic mega sports event in Punjab in the first quarter of next year.
Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar made this announcement while presiding over an important meeting of Punjab Sports Department at the National Hockey Stadium on Thursday.
Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Muzaffar Khan Sial, Director General Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Khizar Afzaal Chaudhry, SBP Vice-Chairman Salman Malik, Additional Secretary Sports Mian Usman Ali and other officials participated in the important meeting. The comprehensive plan of Mega Sports Activity 2026 was presented to the Provincial Minister Sports in a briefing.
While sharing more details of mega sports event, Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar informed that the 55-day sports activities will continue from March to April 2026 across Punjab province. “Around 1.3 million athletes are expected to participate in the mega sports activity in which cash prizes worth crores of rupees will be awarded to top performing athletes”.
Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar further said that the competitions of mega sports event will be organized at inter-tehsil, inter-district and inter-division level. “The participating players will be provided complete uniform, playing kit, track suit, shoes, accommodation and transport during the grand sports activity”.
Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar said that the mega sports event will create a new history of sports in the province. “Special arrangements will be made for opening and closing ceremonies of mega sports event. Several sports stalwarts and other notables will be invited at these grand ceremonies”.
Highlighting other major sports event, Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar said that Lahore Marathon will be held in early part of next year and we are determined that this marathon will highlight positive and soft image of Punjab at the global level. “CM Punjab Games will be organized on a large scale next year while a wide range of sports competitions will be conducted under the Under-16 Talent Hunt Programme”.
Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar said that the promotion of sports is the first priority of the government in accordance with vision of Punjab Chief Minister. “Bringing the young generation towards healthy activities is our prime goal and Punjab Sports Department is taking effective measures to achieve this objective”.
