Sports and Youth Affairs Department Punjab organized football, volleyball and hockey matches in connection with Kashmir Solidarity Day on Wednesday.
Director General Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Khizar Afzaal Chaudhry was the chief guest at the hockey and volleyball events. He watched the matches with keen interest and appreciated the players’ performance.
The Kashmir Day hockey match was played between Pakistan XI and Kashmir XI teams at National Hockey Stadium where Pakistan XI team edged out Kashmir XI by a narrow margin of 5-4.
The Kashmir Day football match between Pakistan XI and Kashmir XI remained result-less with both teams scoring two goals each. However, Kashmir XI defeated Pakistan XI by a margin of 2-1 in girls’ Kashmir Day volleyball match.
The winning teams of Kashmir Solidarity Day football and hockey events were given cash prizes of Rs 30,000 while the runners-up teams were awarded cash prizes of Rs 20,000. In volleyball event, the winner team was given a cheque of Rs 20,000 while a cash prize of Rs 15,000 was awarded to the losing team.
