Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar said that after successful holding of CM Pink Games and Summer Games 2024, Punjab Sports Department is going to launch Summer Sports Camps from June 25 to August 3 in all divisions of the province in accordance with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. He said this while addressing a press conference at National Hockey Stadium on Wednesday.
Director General Sports Punjab Pervez Iqbal, Director Sports Yasmeen Akhtar, Sports Coordinator Malik Anoosh Khokhar, Chief Sports Consultant Hafeez Bhatti and other officials were also present on this occasion.
Addressing the press conference, Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar said that Summer Sports Camps of 12 games, including athletics, archery, badminton, table tennis, hockey, football, tennis, swimming cricket, karate, taekwondo and gymnastics will be organized in Lahore while the camps of six games will be conducted in other divisions of the province. The camps of 12 games will also be conducted in all divisions from next year”.
Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar said that the children of 5 to 16 years of age can participate in the Summer Sports Camps. “June 15 is the last date for registration of 40-day Summer Sports Camp. Sports events will be organized among the participants of camp to judge their game and fitness level during the last three days of Summer Sports Camp”.
Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar said that Summer Camps will play a key role in finding several talented male and female young athletes in different games at grassroots level. “Like CM Pink Games and Summer Games, the members of our selection committee with attend the Summer Sports Camps to monitor and evaluate the performance of all participants. The athletes who will be selected on the basis of performance will be retained for further grooming and nurturing”.
Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar said that the children will get to learn a lot in Summer Sports Camps under the supervision of the expert coaches. “We are also going to conduct yoga classes for parents accompanying children in Summer Sports Camp. This is our effort to beautify the future of Punjab province”.
Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar said that the registration of summer camp is being done online this year for the convenience of camp probables. “The registration fee is Rs 2,000 in Lahore while the fee is Rs 500 in the rest of the divisions,” said Punjab Sports Minister.
Director General Sports Punjab Pervez Iqbal on this occasion said that the mega Summer Camp is being organized to provide an opportunity to hundreds of young players to keep themselves busy in healthy sports activities and improve their game skills during their summer vacation.
Director General Sports Punjab Pervez Iqbal further said that it is a golden opportunity for school going children to learn and polish their game skills and the parents should register their children to the maximum so that the young students can spend their summer vacations in healthy learning activities.
Director General Sports Punjab Pervez Iqbal informed that the summer camps of different games will be conducted in morning and evening sessions. “The basic purpose of Summer Sports Camps is to enhance the confidence of young students and prepare a nursery of talented male and female athletes”.
