Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar announced that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz will inaugurate First CM Punjab Pink Games 2024 on May 2. The first CM Punjab Pink Games will be held from May 2 to 5.
The Provincial Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs made this announcement at the logo unveiling ceremony in the presence of a large number of media personnel at the National Hockey Stadium on Monday.
Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Muzaffar Khan Sial, Director General Sports Punjab Pervez Iqbal, Deputy Director Zahoor Ahmed and other officials were also present on this occasion.
Addressing the press conference, Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar said that 1,300 female athletes from 19 universities of the Punjab province will participate in the Pink Games. “A hefty prize money of Rs 50 lakh will be distributed among the participating players in the first Chief Minister Punjab Pink Games,” he added.
Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar announced that all the participating female athletes will be given best facilities including playing kits and allowances during the first Chief Minister Punjab Pink Games. “Our monitoring committees will observe the performance of all athletes minutely for the merit based selection of female athletes. We will hold more such events in future to give maximum playing opportunities to our female athletes”.
Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar further said that the first Chief Minister Punjab Pink Games is a mega sports event for female athletes who will be seen in action in seven sports disciplines such as badminton, table tennis, archery, basketball, athletics, hockey and cricket (tape ball) competitions. “Sports Board Punjab will select the best 100 players from Pink Games and prepare them for inter-provincial games,” he added.
Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar informed the media that two major sports events - Punjab League and Punjab Games will be organised in near future. “The competitions of Punjab League will be staged in phased manner from union council level to tehsil, district, divisional and provincial level,” he elaborated.
Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar said that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has completely focused on women's sports events. “The female athletes were not given much importance in sports in the past but Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz is playing an active role for the development of sports culture particularly female sports across the province,” he added.
Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Faisal Ayub Khokhar said that 500 top performing talented male and female athletes will be groomed as per requirements of international sports competitions. “The talented athletes of different games will be retained for one year and during this period they will be provided with the best training facilities,” he added.
