Newly-appointed DG Sports Punjab Pervez Iqbal takes charge of his office

Newly-appointed Director General Sports Punjab Pervez Iqbal assumed the charge of his office at National Hockey Stadium on Monday.
Pervez Iqbal, who has vast experience of administration, had also served on key posts like Special Secretary Local Government, Director General Special Education and Deputy Managing Director Punjab Small Industries Corporation (PSIC) in the past.
After taking charge, Director General Sports Punjab Pervez Iqbal met with SBP officers. During the meeting, the officers gave a detailed departmental briefing to new DG Sports Punjab about the performance and other major features of their respective departments.
During the briefing, the new DG Sports Punjab was told that there are 538 sports facilities in the province and the work is in progress on 81 schemes. There are 41 Tehsil Sports Complexes while 21 cities of Punjab have the facility of hockey turf.
Director Sports Yasmeen Akhtar, Director Youth Affairs Rana Nadeem Anjum, Director Admin Muhammad Kaleem, Project Director PMU Qaiser Raza, Deputy Directors Ata ur Rehman, Tariq Khanzada and Zahoor Ahmed were also present in the meeting.
Talking to SBP officers, newly-appointed Director General Sports Punjab Pervez Iqbal said that the welfare of sportsmen is our mission and we will take all possible measures for the promotion of sports in the province. “Sports Board Punjab will work hard for the development of sports under the leadership of provincial sports minister and in accordance with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz”.
Director General Sports Punjab Pervez Iqbal said that the development of sports is top priority of Punjab govt and Sports Board Punjab will utilize all resources for this noble cause. “Best facilities will be provided to players so that they can excel in sports competitions appropriately in future,” he added.
Earlier, the outgoing Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail in his farewell meeting, thanked all the officers and staffers for their cooperation during his stay in Sports Board Punjab.
