Punjab Sports Minister Faisal Ayub Khokhar and Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan inaugurate the championship by playing mass wrestling

Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar said that a mega sports plan is being introduced for the revival of sports in the Punjab province. The welfare of the players is our goal; he said this at the inaugural ceremony of 7th National Mass Wrestling Championship at NPSC Gymnasium Hall on Sunday.
Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar, Deputy Commissioner Lahore Rafia Haider and Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan Mr Ulanbek Totuiaev were the guests of honour at the opening ceremony. President Pakistan Mass Wrestling Federation Nawab Furqan Khan, Deputy Director Zahoor Ahmed, Administrator NPSC Gymnasium Hall Mustfa Shah and other officials were also present on this occasion.
Punjab Sports Minister Faisal Ayub Khokhar and the Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan inaugurated the championship by playing mass wrestling while Deputy Commissioner Lahore Rafia Haider declared the event open in which more than 300 male and female players and officials from across the country are participating.
Talking to media, Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar paid tribute to the Deputy Commissioner Lahore for organizing Mass Wrestling Championship. “It is nice to see a large number of women are participating in the event which is a welcome sign,” he added.
Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar said this is a promise from the Punjab government that a handsome amount will be spent on the players. “We will provide modern facilities to the players so that they can participate in international sports competitions”.
He said that effective efforts will be made to introduce Punjab’s traditional and cultural games not only in other provinces of the country but the whole world. “Punjab govt will try to introduce our traditional sports particularly kabaddi in Kyrgyzstan.  We are also making endeavours to bring all institutions into the sports activities. Sports is a significant part of our life, it needs to be given its due importance”.
