Lahore division records biggest victory of the day defeating DG Khan by 13-0 in Rising Punjab Games Hockey Championship

The thrilling second day competitions of Rising Punjab Games 2024 were continued under the auspices of Sports Board Punjab (SBP) at Nishtar Park Sports Complex (NPSC) sports venues on Friday.
Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail witnessed the matches and appreciated the performance of the players.
Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail, in a statement on Friday said that Sports Board Punjab will also conduct Spring Games and Summer Games after competing Winter Games. “Overall, we will hold 18 games under the umbrella of Rising Punjab Games. Rising Punjab Games is the first event under Sports Board Punjab’s Annual Sports Calendar Programme”.
Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail further said that all participating players have been selected through merit-based trials. “After these games, the top performing players will be picked to form Punjab teams in all 18 games. These Punjab teams will participate in next National Games and inter-provincial games”.
He said Punjab govt is fully supporting Sports Board Punjab in conducting Rising Punjab Games in a befitting manner. “New talent is emerging from Rising Punjab Games. The best arrangements have been made for conducting all the competitions of Rising Punjab Games”.
In Rising Punjab Games Volleyball Championship, Sahiwal division thrashed strong team of Lahore division by 2-0 at NPSC Gymnasium Hall. In another match, Faisalabad team toppled Sargodha by the same margin.
The hockey matches of Rising Punjab Games were played at the National Hockey Stadium.
The Lahore division recorded biggest victory of the day defeating DG Khan by 13-0. Abdur Rehman of Lahore division stole the show through his extra-ordinary performance. He struck seven beautiful goals while Adeel Lateef scored two goals. The remaining four goals were scored by Gul Sher, Ali Aziz, Samiullah and Abdul Qayyum.
The match between Rawalpindi and Multan concluded as 1-1 draw. Noman Janjua and Sohail Manzoor scored one goal each for Rawalpindi and Multan respectively.
Bahawalpur Division pulverized DG Khan by a huge score of 11-0. Mohsin Hassan and Shoaib truck three goals each for Bahawalpur team. Noman Hanif scored two goals while Basit and Umar contributed one goal each for the winning team.
The next match was played between Faisalabad and Gujranwala in which Faisalabad emerged winners by 4-0. Ahmar and Ejaz scored two goals each for victorious Faisalabad team.
In their next match, Faisalabad division edged out Sargodha by 3-2. Bilal, Ali Raza and Ejaz scored one goal each for Faisalabad while Rana Shoaib scored both goals for Sargodha division.
Sargodha division, however, bounced back and won their next game against Rawalpindi by 3-1. Mahtab, Mohsin Bilal and Shajee netted one goal each for Sargodha team. Rawalpindi’s only goal was scored by Hamid Ali.
