U-16 Talent Hunt Programme Inter-Division Badminton Championship Pindi’s Sameen Faisal and Hamna Irshad of Gujranwala move into Girls Singles final, Faisalabad’s Khuzaima and Ahmad Usman of Multan book a place in title clash of Boys’ Singles category

Sameen Faisal of Rawalpindi and Hamna Irshad of Gujranwala cruised into the Girls Singles final of U-16 Talent Hunt Programme Inter-Division Badminton Championship at the Nishtar Park Sports Complex (NPSC) Gymnasium Hall on Tuesday.

Similarly, Faisalabad’s Khuzaima Shahzad and Ahmad Usman of Multan booked a place in the title clash of Boys’ Singles category after winning their respective semifinal at the same venue.

Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail congratulated the young male and female badminton players for reaching the final of the grand event. The girls and boys final matches will be played on January 10 (Wednesday) at the same venue in the presence of a large number of sports enthusiasts.

Director Youth Affairs Rana Nadeem Anjum, President Pakistan Badminton Federation Wajid Ali Ch, Assistant Director Zarina Waqar and Administrator NPSC Gymnasium Hall Mustfa Shah were also present on this occasion.

It is worth mentioning that Sports Board Punjab is oagansing Under-16 Talent Hunt Programme Inter-Division Badminton Championship under Annual Sports Calendar Programme in which hundreds of male and female players and officials from across the province are participating.

According to details, in the first semifinal of Girls Singles, Rawalpindi’s Sameen Faisal scripted a convincing 21-17 and 23-21 victory against Samha Naveed of Gujranwala. The second semifinal proved to be a one-sided affair when Hamna Irshad of Gujranwala demolished Ayesha Malik from Rawalpindi division by 21-5 and 21-2 through wonderful playing technique.

On boys’ side, Faisalabad’s Khuzaima Shahzad thrashed M Haseeb of Bahawalpur in two sets by 23-21 and 21-18 in the first semifinal. Ahmad Usman of Multan exhibited excellent game techniques and stunned Lahore division’s Shahzaib by 21-15, 25-23. Shahzaib offered some resistance in the second set but failed to win it against in-form Ahmed Usman.
