Adviser to Chief Minister Punjab on Sports and Youth Affairs Wahab Riaz has presided over an important meeting to review arrangements of upcoming Punjab Rising Star Games at the National Hockey Stadium on Wednesday.
Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Raja Jahangir Anwar, Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail, Director Sports Yasmeen Akhtar, Deputy Director Attaur Rehman and other officials were also present in the high-profile meeting.
Addressing the meeting, Adviser to Chief Minister Punjab on Sports and Youth Affairs Wahab Riaz said that Punjab Rising Star Games are being organized with an aim to provide a befitting platform to talented youth of the province to demonstrate their sports potential. “Hundreds of male and female athletes from all parts of the province will participate in the Punjab Rising Star Games in which a prize money of crores of rupees would be distributed among the prominent performers,” he added.
Adviser to Chief Minister Punjab on Sports and Youth Affairs Wahab Riaz further said that in total, 18 sports disciplines have been selected in which the competitions will be organized in a phased manner. “In the first phase, the competitions of six games will be conducted at different venues of Nishtar Park Sports Complex”.
Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Raja Jahangir Anwar on this occasion said that all emerging athletes of six sports disciplines are partaking in Punjab Rising Star Games. “We are quite upbeat to find several talented athletes from this platform and definitely, these budding stars will represent the country at international level in future,” he added.
Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail gave a thorough briefing about the preparations of the Punjab Rising Star Games in the meeting. He said that all the arrangements have been completed for holding this grand sports event in the best possible way.
