The 6-day Level-1 Coaching Course began under the auspices of Sports and Youth Affairs Department Punjab at Institute of Sports Sciences Punjab (ISSP) at Punjab Stadium on Monday.
As many as 35 public and private coaches belonging to various sports federations, associations participated in the course being conducted on the directions of Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail.
Principal ISSP Chand Parveen and Chief Instructor Hafeez Bhatti were also present at the opening ceremony.
On the first day, Principal ISSP Chand Parveen delivered lecture on introduction of sports and game of hockey. Dr Naseebullah Khan and Aqib Mehmood threw light the topic of Fundamental Anatomy and Kinesiology and Nutrition & Performance. They taught the coaches about role of muscles, bones, human exercise, physical movement etc.
Assistant Prof Orthopaedic, Jinnah Hospital Dr Amir Sohail delivered lecture on the topic of sports injuries, rehabilitation and their treatment. During his insightful lecture, Dr Amir Sohail said the occurrence of an injury is a routine work in sports world and the basic objective of this course is to equip our coaches and trainers with the essential knowledge about sports injuries and their treatment.
Nutrition expert Sara Farooqi shared valuable tips about nutrition, kinds of nutrients, sources of food and ideal food intake.
