Lahore division U-16 girls archery team emerged winner in 30m team event competition with 667 points in the Under-16 Talent Hunt Programme Inter-Division Archery Championship at SBP Archery Centre here on Tuesday.
Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail was the Chief Guest on this occasion. Director Sports Yasmeen Akhtar and Director Youth Affairs Rana Nadeem Anjum were also present on this occasion.
Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail distributed prizes among the top position holders. The participating male and female archery players and officials also had group photographs with the chief guest.
The second position in Girls’ U-16 Archery Team event went to Bahawalpur team which scored 593 points followed by Faisalabad division with 554 points.
In Boys’ U-16 Archery Team event, Faisalabad division clinched the title with 825 points while the next two positions were taken by Bahawalpur and Lahore division teams with 720 and 694 points respectively.
Talking on this occasion, Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail said that new talent is emerging from Under-16 Talent Hunt competitions. “The young talented male and female athletes are demonstrating wonderful performances in these competitions which will continue until January 5”.
Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail further said that Sports Board Punjab is working for the development of all sports in the province. “The promotion of sports culture among the younger generation is our mission,” he added.
The exciting matches of Under-16 Talent Hunt Programme Inter-Division Table Tennis Championship were played on the second day at Nishtar Park Sports Complex (NPSC) Gymnasium Hall on Tuesday.
Lahore division team toppled Bahawalpur by a wide margin of 3-0 in the U-16 girls’ team event match. The second match was played between Multan and Faisalabad in which Multan emerged winners by 3-1. Sargodha girls also scripted a hard fought win against Gujranwala by 3-2.
In the earlier U-16 girls team event matches, Lahore division team outplayed Sahiwal by 3-0, Gujranwala beat Rawalpindi by 3-2, Sargodha beat Faisalabad by 3-0 and DG Khan beat Bahawalpur by 3-2.
In Boys U-16 team event, Lahore beat Sahiwal by 3-1, Faisalabad beat Multan by 3-1, Gujranwala edged out Rawalpindi by 3-2, Bahawalpur beat DG Khan by 3-0, Faisalabad beat Sargodha by 3-0 and Gujranwala beat Sargodha 3-0.
