Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail presided over an important meet up of representatives of Punjab Sports Associations regarding the registration of sports clubs at state-of-the-art Punjab International Swimming Complex on Monday evening.
The meeting was attended by Director Sports Yasmeen Akhtar, Deputy Director Zahoor Ahmed, Secretary General Punjab Olympic Association (PbOA) Idris Haider Khawaja, Arshad Sattar of Punjab Wrestling Association, Mirza Nadeem Baig of Punjab Football Association, Tayyab Sohail of Punjab Badminton Association and Assistant Director Waseem Ahmed.
Addressing the meeting Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail said that around 5,000 sports clubs from across the province have so far applied for registration. “It is a positive development that hundreds of new sports clubs are approaching to get themselves registered with Sports Board Punjab”.
Highlighting the objectives of the club registration process, Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail said that the basic objectives of this initiative are to promote club formation culture in the province, encourage sports base at grassroots level, and strengthen the registered sports associations of Punjab by promoting and developing sports activities across the province. “Eliminating the chances of creating parallel sports bodies in the province, streamline the process of registration of sports clubs with the Sports Board Punjab and regulate the operations of sports clubs registered with Sports Board Punjab are the other goals of this project,” he added.
Representatives of all sports associations of the province lauded the much needed initiative taken by Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail.
Secretary General Punjab Olympic Association (PbOA) Idris Haider Khawaja said that true sports culture will grow in the province after the completion of club registration process.
Arshad Sattar of Punjab Wrestling Association paid great tribute to DG Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail for launching this unique campaign.
Mirza Nadeem Baig of Punjab Football Association said that this move will help a lot in maintaining the database about sports activities and potential in every tehsil of Punjab.
Tayyab Sohail of Punjab Badminton Association said that DG Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail deserved huge congratulations for putting the sports of Punjab province in the right direction.
