Expert trainers continued to impart modern training to 20 provincial and divisional coaches including three females in 2nd phase 5-day training course being organized by Sports Board Punjab under the directions of Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail.
World Athletics’ referee, coach and lecturer Talha Iftikhar delivered an insightful lecture on the 4th day of Track and Field Course at Institute of Sports Sciences Punjab (ISSP) at Punjab Stadium on Thursday. Principal ISSP Chand Parveen, Chief Instructor Hafeez Bhatti, Instructors Shaista Qaiser and Sajid Ali were also present on this occasion.
Master trainer Talha Iftikhar taught the coaches in a true professional manner with the help of videos and slides in his lecture. In the first part of his lecture, he taught about biomechanics of running, throwing and jumping while in the second session he threw light on modern techniques of sprinting.
Expert trainer Talha Iftikhar told the coaches about the latest techniques of starting a race, direction of bones, role muscles, acceleration phase and flight phase during an in depth lecture. He said that a coach must know about the strengths and weak points of his athletes.
Later, Talha Iftikhar supervised a practical session in Punjab Stadium in which he taught the coaches about modern techniques of running, throwing and jumping. He said that a correct and perfect start of any athletics event could play a crucial role in winning a medal and that’s why a coach must focus on launching an athletics event besides emphasizing on other phases of an event.
