For this purpose we will utilise all options including online training from a master trainer”.
Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Shahid Zaman said that all the credit of holding of modern training courses goes to Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail. “It was his idea and he deserved huge appreciation on holding of modern training courses quite successfully in true professional manner,” he added.
Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Shahid Zaman on this occasion inquired the opinion of all coaches about the standard of lectures and coaching techniques of the master trainers upon which all the coaches expressed their satisfaction about the quality of lectures and training methods.
On the last day, World Athletics’ referee, coach and lecturer Talha Iftikhar delivered an insightful lecture on the topic of Philosophy of Coaching and Communication. He said that the philosophical approach of a coach played a key role in identifying positives and negatives of an athlete. “A coach should be a good teacher and mentor with a friendly attitude”.
Regarding communication, Talha Iftikhar taught the coaches that there should be a 2-way communication between a coach and his player. A competent trainer must be ready every time to redress any grievances of his players. He also threw light on two types of communication – verbal and nonverbal during his in-depth lecture.
After the completion of 5-day course, the participating 20 provincial and divisional coaches including three females appeared in written examination under the supervision of ISSP Principal Chand Parveen, Chief Instructor Hafeez Bhatti, and Instructors Shaista Qaiser and Sajid Ali.
