Adviser to Chief Minister Punjab on Sports and Youth Affairs Wahab Riaz presided over an important meeting regarding the finalization of a plan for holding major sports events in the coming two months under Annual Sports Calendar at National Hockey Stadium on Tuesday.
Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail, Director Sports Yasmeen Akhtar, Director Youth Affairs Rana Nadeem Anjum, Director Admin Ijaz Munir, Deputy Director Admin Zahoor Ahmed, Deputy Director Attaur Rehman and other officials participated in the important meeting. Besides them all the Divisional Sports Officers of the province attended the meeting through video link.
Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail briefed the meeting in detail about the upcoming major sports activities. All the Divisional Sports Officers also gave briefing about the preparation and different sports activities planned under Annual Sports Calendar in their respective divisions.
Addressing the meeting, Adviser to Chief Minister Punjab on Sports and Youth Affairs Wahab Riaz said that mega sports events will be organized in the next two months of December-January. “Punjab has excellent sports infrastructure. The competitions of the fastest athletes of Punjab will also be organized,” he added.
Adviser to Chief Minister Punjab on Sports and Youth Affairs Wahab Riaz said that effective efforts are underway to bring new talent from all areas of the province. “Tracing fresh talented athletes from far flung areas of the province is indispensable for victories at the global level,” he continued.
Adviser to Chief Minister Punjab on Sports and Youth Affairs Wahab Riaz said that the Annual Sports Calendar programme will play a vital role for growth of sports among the younger generation. “The upcoming major sports events will provide a suitable platform to talented athletes to express their sports potential,” he added.
Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail in his address said that the Annual Sports Calendar has great significance for the development of sports across the province. “Players from all divisions of the province will demonstrate their skills in the upcoming mega sports events,” he informed.
Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail said that all possible measures are being taken for the development of all sports disciplines. “An effective Talent Hunt Programme will be conducted throughout the province on a regular basis to find budding athletes from far flung areas of the province”.
