As many as 1726 sports clubs have so far been registered across the province

Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail in a statement on Monday said that as many as 1726 sports clubs have so far been registered across the province and definitely it is a major development in the right direction.

Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail informed that the process of club registration is underway in all the tehsils of the province under the banner of Sports Board Punjab and this historic campaign will continue till 25th of this month.

“Among top ten tehsils of the province, Samundri tehsil is placed on top of the list with the registration of 78 sports clubs followed by Sargodha 77 sports clubs, Sialkot 58, Rahimyar Khan 52, Nankana 46, Rawalpindi 45, Mandi Bahauddin 44, Arifwala 44, Jhang 43 and Gujrat tehsil 43 sports clubs,” he informed.

Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail further said that certainly there will be a real change in the sports fortunes of Punjab province once the club registration campaign is completed. “The registration of sports clubs has never been done at such a large scale in the past and this unique activity is being executed in accordance with the constitution of Sports Board Punjab,” he added.

DG Sports Dr Asif Tufail said that the sports clubs after their proper registration will be entitled to get government funds and scholarships for top performing players and other facilities besides getting rights to hold sports competitions. “We are quite upbeat that this campaign will help a lot in tracing fresh sports potential from far flung areas of the province”.

Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail said that all the tehsil sports officers are playing a key role in the process of club registration. “Several elite sports clubs have also expressed their interest in the club registration process,” he added.
