Theory of Game and Prevention of Sports Injuries & Rehabilitation were the topics on the second day of week-long training programme of Punjab Institute of Sports Sciences (PISC) being organised under the directions of Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail at National
Hockey Stadium on Tuesday.

Parveen, Chief Instructor Hafeez Bhatti and Instructors Shaista Qaiser and Sajid Ali were also present on this occasion. Master trainers Faisal Abid and Ms Mehwish Roshaan delivered lectures on Theory of Game and Prevention of Sports Injuries & Rehabilitation respectively.
Master trainer Faisal Abid during his lecture talked about responsibilities and different techniques of coaches and trainers before, during and after a sports competition. He also threw light on the principles of sports training, speed, agility, prime objective of sports training, psychological preparation of players, muscle strength and determination during his insightful lecture. Highlighting the role of coaches, Faisal said that an expert coach always monitored his players and their movements continuously, especially before a major sports competition to ascertain if there was any kind of injury or
inconvenience. Expert trainer Ms Mehwish Roshaan in her lecture told the divisional coaches about how to prevent an injury and its serious consequences. She said that through better management and timely response we can reduce the seriousness of a sports injury. “The factors of preventative strategy, warm up before game, cool down after game and stretching played key roles in minimizing the chances of injuries in sports,” she added. Ms Mehwish Roshaan also threw light on acute and chronic injuries and their preventive measures. “A professional sports physiotherapist played a significant role when it comes to injuries and their timely management”. She also discussed kinds of sports injuries, symptoms of sports injuries, injury prevention, stages of rehabilitation and significance of diet during an injury, location of symptoms of particular injuries, role and timing of icing, knee injuries, thigh, shoulder and groin injuries, ankle injuries and other sports health complications. Master trainers Faisal Abid and Ms Mehwish Roshaan gave detailed answers to various questions asked by divisional coaches.
