Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail presided over an important meeting regarding organization of archery and athletics competitions under U-16 talent hunt programme at National Hockey Stadium on Wednesday.
Director Sports Yasmeen Akhtar and Director Youth Affairs Rana Nadeem Anjum attended the meeting in person while all divisional, district and tehsil sports officers of the province participated through video link. Addressing the meeting, Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail said that athletics competitions will be held in all the tehsils of Punjab from December 9 to 15 while the district level athletics competitions will be held from December 16 to 17. “The archery and athletics competitions will be held for the selection of all divisional teams of Punjab on December 19,” he informed. Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail further said that the training camps of archery and athletics will be held in all divisions from December 20 to 29. “The archery and athletics competitions of all divisions of the province will also be held in Lahore,” he added. Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail said that Under-16 Inter-Division competitions are being organized as per our strategy to prepare a crop of young talented athletes belonging to different games. “As per our plan, the events of two games will be held every month from tehsil to provincial level under the annual sports calendar”.
