Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail chaired an important meeting of all sports officers of the province regarding club registration and other key issues at National Hockey Stadium on Friday night.
Director Sports Yasmeen Akhtar, Director Youth Affairs Rana Nadeem Anjum and Deputy Director Ataur Rahman attended the meeting in person while all divisional, district and tehsil sports officers of Punjab participated in the meeting through video link.
Director General Sports Punjab Dr. Asif Tufail while addressing the meeting said that 4800 applications for registration of sports clubs have been received from all tehsils of Punjab from 10th October to 5th December. "The clubs, however, will be registered after thorough verification and scrutiny process as per Club Registration Policy of Sports Board Punjab", he informed. Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail further said that the services of those Tehsil Sports Officers will be duly acknowledged who have shown excellent performance in Sports Clubs Registration and they will be rewarded at a grand ceremony for their impressive performance. "As many as 100 motorcycles will be given to all the sports offices of Punjab to promote sports activities in the province, he added. Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail said that certificates will also be issued to the registered clubs as soon as possible and sports competitions will also be conducted between sports clubs.
DG Sports Punjab also examined the reasons from the officers in the areas where the number of club registrations decreased. Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail further said that Sports Board Punjab will organise Under-16 inter-division badminton and table tennis division competitions soon at Lahore under the annual sports calendar programme.
