Sports Board Punjab, on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, conducts Road Cycling and Mini Marathon events as part of ‘Lahore Lahore Aye’ Festival

Sports Board Punjab, on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi, conducted Road Cycling and male and female Mini Marathon events as part of ‘Lahore Lahore Aye’ Festival on Sunday.
Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail was the chief guest on this occasion. He distributed prizes among the top performing players of Road Cycling and male and female Mini Marathon events. A large number of athletes and sports personalities attended the road cycling and marathon events in a festive atmosphere at Liberty Chowk where citizens danced to the beat of drums.
Director Admin Ijaz Munir, Director Sports Yasmeen Akhtar, Divisional Sports Officer Lahore Rana Nadeem Anjum, Deputy Director Zahoor Ahmed, Deputy Director Tariq Khanzada, Chief Sports Consultant Hafeez Bhatti, District Sports Officer Lahore Tanveer Shah, Tehsil Sports Officer Nasir Malik, Assistant Directors M Waseem, M Sajid, senior athletics coach Salman Butt and senior officials of Punjab Cycling Association were also present on this occasion.
Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail started the Road Cycle race and male and female Mini Marathon events by hoisting the flag. More than 60 cyclists participated in the road cycling race. The participants covered the 10-km race from Liberty Chowk to Siddique Trade Centre, Canal Road, Ferozepur Road, Kalma Chowk and back to Liberty Chowk.
Sanaullah won the first position in the road cycling event followed by Arsalan and Sajid Zia, who secured the second and third position respectively. The prizes of Rs 50 thousand, Rs 30 thousand and Rs 20 thousand were given to top three position holders. The prizes of Rs 5,000 were given to all the cyclists from 4th to 10th position holders.
The male and female mini-marathon took place from Liberty Chowk to Siddiq Trade Center in which more than 200 girls and boys participated.
In girls’ race, Mahnoor and Kashaf shared the first position while the third position was taken by Kubra. On boys’ side, M Akhtar has won the first position while Osama Ahmed, Aftab pocketed the second and third positions respectively.
The top position holders of male and female mini-marathon were given prizes of Rs 20,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 were awarded to second and third positions winners. All the athletes from 4th to 10th position were given prizes of Rs 5 thousand each.
Talking to media on this occasion, Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail said that the purpose of conducting road cycle race and mini-marathon is to attract the youth towards positive activities. “The sports competitions of ‘Lahore Lahore Aye’ festival are being held under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister,” he added.
Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail said that the sports competitions of ‘Lahore Lahore Aye’ festival are being conducted with an aim to incline the young generation towards healthy sports activities. “I would request the youth and families of Lahore to participate in a maximum number of sports activities”.
Sports Board Punjab is organising sports competitions of ‘Lahore Lahore Aye’ Festival under the supervision of Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail. The sports events of ‘Lahore Lahore Aye’ festival will continue till November 12, 2023.
