U-16 Inter-Division ‘Lahore Lahore Aye’ Festival Hockey Championship Lahore, Bahawalpur girls score narrow victories

Continuing their winning sequence, Lahore division girls team edged out Sargodha by a narrow margin of 1-0 in an U-16 Inter-Division Hockey Championship match played as part of ‘Lahore Lahore Aye’ Festival at Mini National Hockey Stadium on Sunday.
The only goal of the match was scored by Lahore division skipper Eeman Asad in the 12th minute through her marvelous field effort. Both the teams tried their best to score more goals in the remaining time but they failed to do so.
In another match, Bahawalpur division girls’ team stunned the strong Faisalabad side by a thin margin of 2-1 goals. Bahawalpur team took the lead in the first minute when their captain Sobia Afzal converted a penalty corner beautifully.
Faisalabad leveled the score in 44th minute through a penalty corner goal scored by Urwa Waseem. After some time, Bahawalpur’s captain Sobia Afzal scored the decisive goal in 59th minute through her field effort.
It is worth-mentioning that the 6-day SBP Talent Hunt Programme Under-16 Inter-Division Hockey Championship is being organised as part of Sports Board Punjab’s 2-year Annual Sports Calendar till October 31, 2023.
Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail in a statement on Sunday said that SBP Talent Hunt Programme U-16 Inter-Division Hockey Championship is a golden opportunity for young boys and girls to exhibit their true talent. “This event is being conducted to trace fresh talent at grassroots level from across the province”.
