Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail said that Sports Board Punjab will give scholarships to top performing athletes including taekwondo players of the province. He said this while talking to players at the 11th Inter-School and Inter-College Taekwondo Championship at Nishtar Park Sports Complex Gymnasium Hall on Monday.
Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail also witnessed the exciting performances of young taekwondo female players. Divisional Sports Officer Lahore Rana Nadeem Anjum, Administrator NPSC Gymnasium Hall Mustfa Shah, General Secretary Punjab Taekwondo Association Dr Izharul Haq, SBP PRO Abdul Rauf and other senior officials were also present on this occasion.
Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail said that the promotion of sports among the younger generation could prove to be a big factor in decreasing negative activities and even street crimes. “Taekwondo is a popular sport among the youth and that’s why it has been included in sports events of ‘Lahore Lahore Aye’ Festival. The taekwondo competitions of ‘Lahore Lahore Aye’ festival will be conducted at NPSC Gymnasium Hall on Nov 7,” he informed.
General Secretary Punjab Taekwondo Association Dr Izharul Haq on this occasion expressed his gratitude to Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail for his key role in the promotion of sports culture among the youth of the province.
He informed that hundreds of students including 300 from various schools and around 200 from different colleges are participating in 11th Inter-School and Inter-College Taekwondo Championship
