‘Lahore Lahore Aye’ Festival is providing great opportunity to potential athletes of different games: Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail

Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail said that ‘Lahore Lahore Aye’ Festival is providing great opportunity to potential athletes of different games. Sports Board Punjab is holding sports events of ‘Lahore Lahore Aye’ Festival on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi.
He expressed these views at the closing ceremony of ‘Lahore Lahore Aye’ Festival Inter-School U-18 Wushu Championship at the NPSC Gymnasium Hall on Wednesday.
Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail expressed his satisfaction after witnessing great passion among the young athletes especially the female players. “The top performing male and female athletes will be given monthly scholarships under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi”.
Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail said that Sports Board Punjab organized ‘Lahore Lahore Aye’ Festival events of Mini Marathon and Road Cycling were conducted on October 28. “Punjab Stadium will host the Kabaddi event on November 5 and Rustam-e-Punjab Dangal on November 12, 2023. The taekwondo competitions of ‘Lahore Lahore Aye’ festival will be conducted at NPSC Gymnasium Hall on November 7,” he added.
Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail further said that leading athletes are participating in sports events of ‘Lahore Lahore Aye’ festival. “These sports events will play an important role in promoting sports culture among the younger generation besides providing a great amount of entertainment to people of Punjab province”.
Director Sports Yasmeen Akhtar, President Pakistan Wushu Federation (PWF), Malik Iftikhar Ahmed, Assistant Directors M Waseem, M Sajid, Administrator NPSC Gymnasium Hall Mustfa Shah and other officials were also present on this occasion.
Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail also witnessed exciting competitions, gymnastic and wushu performance on this occasion. He also distributed cash prizes among the top position holder athletes of ‘Lahore Lahore Aye’ Festival Inter School U-18 Wushu Championship. The gold medal winners were awarded cash prize of Rs 50,000, silver medal winners Rs 30,000 and bronze medal winners Rs 20,000. Around 200 male and female players participated in the competitions of eight weight categories from 26 kg to 60 kg.
