Sports and Youth Affairs Department Punjab hold several sports events to celebrate 76th Independence Day in a befitting manner

Sports Board Punjab and Youth Affairs and Sports Department Punjab organized several sports competitions and events at different venues to celebrate the 76th Independence Day in a befitting manner.
The Independence Day hockey matches were played at National Hockey Stadium Pitch-2. The boys match was played between Quaid-e-Azam XI and Allama Iqbal teams in which Quaid-e-Azam XI emerged triumphant by 2-1. M Ahmed Nadeem and Rana Sohail Riaz struck goals for winning team while Abdul Mannan scored the only goal for Allama Iqbal team.
Fatima Jinnal XI defeated Begum Rana Liaqat Ali Khan XI by 3-2 margin in the girls hockey match. Aqsa Ijaz, Fauzia Talib and Sheher Bano scored one goal apiece for the winning team whereas Sidra Hakim and Abida Perveen were the goal scorers for losing side.
Olympian Danish Kaleem and Rana Ahmed Zaheer were the guests of honour on the occasion. The match was supervised by Kashif Shah and Mubasher.
The Independence Day archery competitions were conducted at SBP Archery Academy Centre where 85 young boys and girls exhibited their archery skills. Wife of Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail Dr Qurra tul Ain was the chief guest, who also cut an Independence Day cake on this occasion.
As far as results were concerned, Faris Qureshi clinched gold medal in U-7 age group event. The gold medal in U-8 age group contest went to Soha Khan. Talented player Mashaal finished runner up in this competition.
The girls Independence Day badminton event was organized at Nishtar Park Sports Complex Gymnasium Hall. Three teams participated in the competition in which the team comprising players Fatima Zaheer, Bisma Raza, Dua Fatima, Anaya and Arosh grabbed first position.
The runners up team was consisted of Zainab Nadeem, Abeera, Mariam, Hamail and Zania while the third position went to team comprising Noor Aftab, Aysha Irfan, Zimal, Zimra and Falak.
The Independence Day speech competition was organised at NPSC E-Library where dozens of students took part in the contest.
Abdul Rafay presented English speech. Abdur Rehman and M Tayyab win top positions in Urdu speech while Shoaib Khan got silver in Urdu speech contest. The position holder students were given certificates.
Similarly, Independence Day swimming competitions were organised at Punjab International Swimming Complex where wife of Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail Dr Qurra tul Ain was the chief guest. Dr Qurra tul Ain witnessed the exiting swimming competitions and later distributed prizes among the top position holders.
