Punjab Men’s badminton team secure silver medal in National Games badminton team event

Punjab Men’s badminton team bagged the silver medal and second position in the National Games badminton team event at Quetta on Tuesday. Earlier, Punjab Men’s badminton team defeated HEC in the semifinal match.
Pakistan Army outplayed the Punjab team by 3-0 in the Badminton Team Event Men’s final. Uzair Khan of Army beat Abuzar Rasheed of Punjab by 21-17 and 21-14 in the first single match. Anjum Bashir (Army) thrashed Punjab’s Shahzaib Shabbir by 20-22, 21-12, 21-17 in the 2nd Single clash. The only Doubles match was also won by Army’s Raja M Hasnain & Raja Zulqarnain Haider Punjab’s Abdul Mannan & Burhan Yaseen by 21-10, 21-4.
In the National Games hockey event, Wapda defeated Punjab by 3-1 in the Women's Hockey semifinal. The third place competition of the National Games hockey event will be played between the Punjab Women hockey team and HEC on May 18.
Adviser to Chief Minister Punjab on Sports and Youth Affairs Wahab Riaz on Tuesday expressed his hope that the Punjab contingent will offer better performance in the next competitions of 34th National Games.
