Deputy Commissioner Lahore School Games 2022 got underway at a grand colourful opening ceremony at National Hockey Stadium on Wednesday night.
Senior Provincial Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal, who was the chief guest on this occasion, inaugurated the Deputy Commissioner Lahore School Games 2022 being organized with the collaboration of Sports Board Punjab.
Commissioner Lahore Amir Jan, Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Ehsan Bhutta, Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi, CEO Lahore Qalandars Atif Rana, Deputy Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Ali, Director Admin Syed Umair Hassan, Olympian Javelin Thrower Arshad Nadeem, young world record holder mountaineer Shehroz Kashif and other notables were also present on this occasion.
The colourful opening ceremony was also witnessed by a large number of male and female players, sports officials. Eye-catching fireworks also lit the National Hockey Stadium to capture the attention of the large crowd.
All the participants stood in respect of the National Anthem in the inaugural ceremony. Young male and female artists and performers also presented attractive aerobics, gymnastics, sufi and cultural performances and melodious songs and won huge appreciation from a large number of sports enthusiasts present at the grand venue.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony Senior Provincial Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal said that Deputy Commissioner Lahore School Games is a wonderful healthy activity and our talented youth should take part in such events with full passion. He lauded the enthusiasm of participating athletes.

In his address at the opening ceremony, Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Ehsan Bhutta said definitely, Deputy Commissioner Lahore School Games is a suitable platform for a large number of male & female students from prominent educational institutions to demonstrate their sports talent. “Talented boys and girls of the province must avail this golden opportunity. Punjab govt is utilizing all of its resources for the establishment of top level sports infrastructure in the province. We are striving hard for the promotion of sports among all segments of the society”.
Commissioner Lahore Amir Jan on this occasion said it is true that sports activities do bring discipline in life and play a key role in establishing a healthy society. “I’m quite hopeful that hundreds of male & female students from Lahore’s leading schools will impress with their performances in these games. It is for sure that sports passion will grow among the young students through this grand event”.
Deputy Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Ali on this occasion expressed his hope that several potential athletes of athletics, badminton, table tennis, taekwondo, swimming, tug of war, martial arts, archery, kabaddi, kick boxing, rowing, taekwondo, volleyball and roller sports will emerge after the completion of these games.
