Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi inaugurated 2-day McDonald’s 15th National Inter-School Boys and Girls Age Group Swimming Championship at State-of-the-Art Punjab International Swimming Complex on Friday.
Chief Sports Consultant Hafeez Bhatti, Divisional Swimming Coach Rafi uz Zaman and other officials were also present at the opening ceremony.
Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi distributed prizes and medals among the top performers of the event. The participants also had group photographs with Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi on this occasion.
Talking to media, Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi said that more than 400 school children from all over the country are participating in U-6, U-8, U-10, U-12, U-14, U-16 & Open age group category events in 15th National Inter-School Boys and Girls Age Group Swimming Championship being organized under the aegis Sports Board Punjab.
Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi said that this event is part of our talent scheme and we are quite upbeat to find several talented swimmers from this event. “This event is a continuation of our talent hunt campaign in different games. In recent days, we have launched swimming, tennis and table tennis academies in Nishtar Park Sports Complex,” he informed.
Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi said the holding of 2-day McDonald’s 15th National Inter-School Boys and Girls Age Group Swimming Championship is good omen for the promotion of swimming among the young boys and girls. “Sports Board Punjab is fully cooperating for the holding of this swimming championship. We are taking all essential measures for the growth of sports culture in the province”.
