Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Asadullah Faiz inaugurated Inter-Divisional Table Tennis Championship as the first event of Kohsar Sports Festival 2022 at Government Girls High School, Rawat on Monday.
Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Asadullah Faiz inaugurated the Inter-Divisional Table Tennis C’ship by playing a brief ceremonial match with Divisional Sports Officer Faisalabad Rana Hamad. He also visited Rawat School and appreciated the game of young table tennis players.
Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Asadullah Faiz also planted a sapling at Bansra Gali. He also announced to give table tennis sports gear to local table tennis players.
All Divisional Sports Officers of Punjab including Director Sports Nadeem Qaiser, Waheed Babar (Rawalpindi), Rana Nadeem Anjum (Multan), Atta ur Rehmen (DG Khan), Manzar Shah (Sargodha), Maqsood ul Hasan (Bahawalpur), Rana Hamad (Faisalabad) and a large number of players and sports enthusiasts were also present on this occasion. Director Sports Nadeem Qaiser is supervising the all events and arrangements of Kohsar Sports Festival.
Meanwhile, Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Asadullah Faiz also inspected a sports ground in Bhurban. The staff concerned gave a thorough briefing to Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Asadullah Faiz about the ground which will be developed as a multi-purpose sports venue after the consultation of local stakeholders.
Earlier, Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Asadullah Faiz also attended Kohsar Sports Festival Sufi Night on Sunday night. All Divisional Sports Officers and a large number of players were also present on this occasion. They lauded the performance of different artistes during Sufi Night.
Talking to media at the inaugural ceremony, Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Asadullah Faiz said that Kohsar Sports Festival, being held under the auspices of Sports and Youth Affairs Department Punjab, is being revived after a long time of 9 years which is definitely a positive development. “The basic purpose of Kohsar Sports Festival is to promote healthy activities in the society. There is no cast, colour and creed in sports and the participation of all segments of society in sports events will help a lot in presenting soft image of Pakistan among world community”.
Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Asadullah Faiz said that further said that Sports and Youth Affairs Department Punjab is holding Kohsar Festival to unearth fresh sports talent from this region. “We are planning to construct top
class sports ground and launch other sports development projects in this region and we are quite upbeat that these facilities will play a key role in promoting sports culture at regional level”.
Following events will be held Kohsar Sports Festival on June 14 (Tuesday):
1. Murree Cycle Race from Lower Topa to Bhurban Cricket Ground,
2. Murree Marathon from Lower Topa to Bhurban Cricket Ground,
3. Inter-Club Football Club at Gharial Football Ground,
4. Inter-Club Volleyball Cup at Bhurban Cricket Ground,
5. Tug-of-War at Bhurban cricket ground.
