Hiring coaching services of legendary Dutch coach Roelant Oltmans a big step for the promotion of hockey: Director General Sports Punjab Javed Chohan

Sports Board Punjab, by arranging a 2-week hockey training camp under the supervision of legendary Dutch coach Roelant Wouter Oltmans, has taken a big step for the promotion of hockey; this was stated by Director General Sports Punjab Javed Chohan in a statement on Thursday.

Director General Sports Punjab Javed Chohan informed that Roelant Oltmans, who has previously coached national hockey teams of Pakistan, Netherlands, India and Malaysia, will impart training to 60 U-21 hockey players in two sessions daily at National Hockey Stadium Pitch-2 in the collaboration with Rana Zaheer Academy.

Director General Sports Punjab Javed Chohan said that the morning session will be conducted from 5.00am to 8.30am while the evening session will be from 6.00pm to 9.00pm. “Sports Board Punjab will send 30 players for the high-profile training camp including top three U-21 hockey players from every division of the province. Rana Zaheer Academy will call up remaining 30 players for the camp”.

Director General Sports Punjab Javed Chohan further said that as many as 10 local coaches including five each from Sports Board Punjab and Rana Zaheer Academy will assist Roelant Oltmans during the training camp which will conclude on June 28, 2022. “Veteran Dutch coach will educate the young hockey players about the modern hockey techniques and how to control nerves in pressure situations during competitive hockey matches”.
