Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh appreciates the performance of Pakistan’s medal winners in Open Asian Mass Wrestling World Cup in Uzbekistan

Members of Pakistan mass wrestling team that won two silver and one bronze medal in Open Asian Mass Wrestling World Cup 2021 in Uzbekistan, called on Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh at National Hockey Stadium on Monday.

Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh appreciated the great achievement of Pakistan’s medal winners and said the medal winning mass wrestling players are our national heroes. “Hopefully our players will clinch gold medals in the future mass wrestling events,” he added.

Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh said Sports Board Punjab will extend every possible assistance for the promotion of mass wrestling in the province.

Nawab Furqan Khan, President Pakistan Mass Wrestling Federation, thanked Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh for encouraging medal winners of the national mass wrestling team. “We are trying our best to hold the Open Asian Mass Wrestling World Cup 2022 in Pakistan. As many as 55 member countries have supported Pakistan for hosting this grand event,” he informed.

Pakistan’s 34-member contingent including 28 athletes and six officials participated in the grand event under the leadership of Nawab Furqan Khan, President Pakistan Mass Wrestling Federation in Uzbekistan’s city of Khiva from June 15 to 21. M Rashid was the head coach of the team. The three medal winners of the national mass wrestling team were Aurangzeb Shah silver medal in -80kg category, Zain Umer silver medal in -50kg category and M Saad bronze medal in -60kg category. Overall 13 countries participated in the event.
