Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh said the holding of National Junior Hockey Championship after the gap of four years is definitely a positive development and several talented players will emerge through this grand event; he said this while talking as a chief guest at a match of 36th National Junior Hockey Championship at National Hockey Stadium on Monday.

Secretary Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) Asif Bajwa, Tournament Director Olympian Anjum Saeed, Deputy Director Shahid Nizami and other officials were also present on this occasion.

Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh was warmly received by PHF officials upon reaching National Hockey Stadium. He was also introduced with players of Punjab and AJK hockey teams on this occasion besides taking group photographs with the junior teams.

Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh said Sports Board Punjab is extending full support to PHF in its mission to regain lost glory in hockey. “We are providing all necessary facilities to PHF in Punjab besides taking effective measures to trace young promising players,” he added.

Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh also congratulated PHF for organizing 36th National Junior Hockey Championship at National Hockey Stadium. “Sports Board Punjab and PHF will continue to work together for the revival of hockey. Our only objective is to promote sports in all parts of province”.

Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh further said that Sports Board Punjab is utilising all resources to promote sports as per vision of Punjab govt. “As many as 315 sports facilities are presently working in the province while 200 new development schemes will be completed during the current fiscal year. In this way there will be over 500 sports facilities for Punjab’s young athletes,” he added.

“Top class sports infrastructure is also being launched at tehsil level so that players from backward areas also get a chance to flourish in sports. PC one of sports school has also been finalized”.
