Director General Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar has announced to conduct 15-day summer swimming camp at State of the Art Punjab International Swimming Complex in Nishtar Park Sports Complex; he made this announcement while talking to media at the closing ceremony of All-Punjab Age Group Swimming Championship at Gujrat Gymkhana Club. Deputy Commissioner Gujrat Dr Khurram Shahzad, Secretary Gymkhana Gujrat Ahmed Hasan Mattoo, Director Sports Hafeez Bhatti, Deputy Director Tariq Wattoo, Tournament Director Shahid Faqeer Virk and senior journalist Sufi Haroon were also present on this occasion. Director General Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar, who was the chief guest on this occasion, witnessed exciting swimming competitions.
Director General Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar further said that Sports Board Punjab has world class swimming venue in the shape of State of the Art Punjab International Swimming Complex. “The top performers of All-Punjab Age Group Swimming Championship will be given top standard training during the summer camp at this great venue”. Answering a question, DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar said: “We will send extraordinary performers abroad for world class training and exposure. Our target is to prepare our swimmers for top international events like Olympics, Asian Games, SAF Games and Islamic Games etc”. DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar said young swimmers offered impressive performances in All-Punjab Age Group Swimming Championship.
Deputy Commissioner Gujrat Dr Khurram Shahzad, on this occasion lauded the prominent role of DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar for the promotion of sports in the province. He also thanked DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar for organizing All-Punjab Age Group Swimming Championship in Gujrat. “The young swimmers of our city will learn a lot by participating in top class event like All-Punjab Age Group Swimming Championship”. Sports Department Punjab organised the high-profile Swimming Championship with the collaboration of Punjab Swimming Association. The swimmers of Beaconhouse School Lahore, Root International, Lahore, Crescent Model High School, Lahore, Nasir High School, Chiniot, Govt High School Sialkot, Quaid-e-Azam Public School, Gujranwala, Brightway School, Lahore and DPS Gujranwala offered excellent performances in the championship.
Moreover, the swimmers of various schools, colleges and clubs of Gujrat, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Wazirabad and Jalalpur Jattan also exhibited their skills during the grand event. The exciting swimming competitions were also watched by a large number of swimming fans and sports lovers of the area. The inhabitants of the area welcomed the young swimmers and expressed their pleasure over the holding of a top class swimming championship in Gujrat after a long time.
