Director General Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar presided over an important meeting of District Sports Officers (DSOs) at National Hockey Stadium on Wednesday. All Divisional and District Sports Officers of the province attended the meeting. The meeting was convened to review the progress of ongoing development sports schemes across the province. All the DSOs briefed DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar about the status of construction work in their respective sports schemes.
Addressing the meeting, DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar said Sports Board Punjab (SBP), under the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar, is committed to complete all the sports facilities including playfields, sports grounds, E-Libraries, stadiums and gymnasiums throughout the province in shortest possible time. “These sports facilities will play an important role in tracing and nurturing fresh talent in the province particularly remote areas,” he added. DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar urged the DSOs to build three cricket turf pitches in the centre of ground for matches. However, the cemented pitches can be built for practice purposes on the sides of grounds. “Professional curators should be hired to prepare standard cricket pitches”. DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar informed the meeting that some sports projects have been completed while the construction work is underway at the remaining schemes. He advised all DSOs to complete the sports projects as early as possible under their own supervision. DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar stressed upon the DSOs that no cricket, football, hockey grounds will be built without proper drainage system. “Every ground must have proper drainage system so that valuable sports facilities could be saved from the harms of rainy water”.
