DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar distributes medals and trophies among the prominent cyclists of National Cycling C’ship

Director General Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar said that sports scenario is improving day by day in the province and Sports Board Punjab (SBP) is striving hard to put the sports culture back on track and we are quite hopeful that we will achieve our goal in near future; he said this while addressing the prize distribution ceremony of 64th National Track Cycling Championship at Cycling Velodrome. Lt Col (retd) Shoaib, Director Sports Hafeez Bhatti, Deputy Director Tariq Wattoo, Vice-President Pakistan Cycling Federation (PCF) Moazzam Khan, Secretary Syed Azhar Shah and a large number of cycling lovers were also present in the Cycling Velodrome. Pakistan Cycling Federation (PCF) officials warmly received DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar at the Cycling Velodrome. Young boys and girls presented impressive performances at the closing ceremony.
DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar, who was the chief guest at the colourful closing ceremony, distributed medals and trophies among the prominent performers. He also appreciated Punjab team for winning junior women cycling event. Addressing the closing ceremony, DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar lauded the performances of male and female cyclists during the national championship. “Sports activities have been revived to a great extent in country and we do expect that sports trend will grow in the country in the coming years. Pakistan to host 8 PSL matches this year which is a big development,” he added. DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar informed that Sports Board Punjab’s Annual Sports Calendar has already been commenced across the province. “We are also going to launch Punjab Games in April 2019 after nearly eight years which is a big development in regard to revival of full-fledge sports activities in the province,” he asserted. DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar further said Sports Board Punjab will add 14 astro-turfs in different cities in the next two years. “Top level training camps of seven games will also start from January 2019 in which 200 young players will participate,” he stated. Overall army cyclists dominated the championship clinching Men’s Elite, Women’s Elite and Men’s Junior titles. The 2nd position went to Wapda cyclists followed by SSGC. In the individual category, Arslan Anjum of Pak Army (92.5 points in Men’s), Sabiha Zahid of Pak Army (100 points in Women’s), Anees of Pak Army (45 points in junior men’s) and Khadija of Punjab (30 points in junior women’s) grabbed top positions in their respective competitions.
