First Quaid-e-Azam Open Inter-Division Sports Championship 2021

1st Punjab Open Inter-Division Quaid-e-Azam Sports Championship started from January 6 to January 8, 2021, under the auspices of Sports Board Punjab at Nishtar Park Sports Complex The games of athletics, archery, badminton, cycling and tennis organized in the 3-day event. Overall 576 male and female players and officials from all nine divisions (64 players and officials from each division) will participateD in the above-mentioned games.

Schedule:

18 male and female athletics players exhibited their skills in the events of 100m, 200m, 400m, Shot Put, Long Jump, 4x100m relay and 4x400m relay competitions. Similarly, eight players (male and female) vied for top honours in archery’s 70m individual and 30m team events whereas team events of badminton (singles and doubles) and tennis (singles and doubles) had 10 and eight players in the run respectively during the championship.

In cycling events as many as 10 male and female players featured in five cycling events during the championship which were: 1km (male), 500m (female), 1000m Sprint (m), 200m Sprint (f), 4km Individual Pursuit (m), 3km Individual Pursuit (f), 4km Team Pursuit (m & f) and Elimination Race (m & f).

Athletics and archery competitions of 1st Punjab Open Inter-Division Quaid-e-Azam Sports Championship conducted at Punjab Stadium on January 6 and 7, 2021. NPSC Gymnasium Hall was the venue of badminton events from January 6 and 8 while the cycling competitions organized at Cycling Velodrome on January 6 and 7. Punjab International Tennis Stadium hosted tennis matches from January 6 and 8.

Results

Faisalabad division, with 630 points won the First Quaid-e-Azam Open Inter-Division Sports Championship 2021 trophy on Friday. Lahore division got second position with 593 points and Gujranwala division is placed third with 293 points during the 3-day sports extravaganza.

A cash prize of Rs 18,60,000 and 246 medals were awarded among the position holders of all the event during the First Quaid-e-Azam Open Inter-Division Sports Championship 2021.

Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti awarded the winners’ trophy to Faisalabad Divisional Sports Officer Rana Hamad at the colourful closing ceremony at Punjab Stadium. The runners-up and third position trophies were also given to Lahore and Gujranwala DSOs on this occasion.
