Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Amir Jan and Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi visit Sports Board Punjab’s Table Tennis Academy

Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Amir Jan and Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi visited Sports Board Punjab’s Table Tennis Academy at Nishtar Park Sports Complex (NPSC) Gymnasium Hall on Tuesday evening.

Director General Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Mudassar Riaz Malik, Director Admin Syed Umair Hassan, former Test cricketer Aqib Javed, CEO Lahore Qalandars Atif Rana, Deputy Director Admin Tariq Wattoo, Administrator NPSC Gymnasium Hall Ghulam Mustafa Shah and sports promoter Sakhi Sarwar Butt were also present on this occasion.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi also met with table tennis players and enquired about the facilities being provided at the academy. Commissioner Lahore Amir Jan, DG Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi and Director Admin Syed Umair Hassan also played table tennis for some time in NPSC Gymnasium Hall.

Commissioner Lahore Amir Jan and Director General Sports Punjab Mohammad Tariq Qureshi distributed prizes among the table tennis players. They also watched matches of the Arshad Bhatti Memorial Tournament and exchanged souvenirs on this occasion.

Talking to media on this occasion, Director General Sports Punjab Tariq Qureshi said that Sports Board Punjab is establishing more academies of different games to engage the youth of the province in healthy activities and keep them away from drugs and other negative practices. “Hundreds of talented youth are getting top class training under the supervision of qualified coaches in Sports Board Punjab’s existing academies,” he added.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi further said that Sports Board Punjab is organizing various sports events across the province to provide maximum playing opportunities to talented youth to demonstrate their potential in their respective games. “Sports Board Punjab will continue to attract young male and female athletes towards sports activities to trace fresh talent particularly from remote and distant areas”.

Senior Coach Yasir Bhatti gave a thorough briefing about SBP’s table tennis academy. The participants of SBP’s Table Tennis Academy also had group photographs with Commissioner Lahore Amir Jan and Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi on this occasion.

Faheem Raza, Mohsin and Parnia Khan stood first while Awais Hasan, Aleem Khan and Nosheen finished runners up in Arshad Bhatti Memorial Tournament table tennis competitions.
